The sheriff has emphasized many times that we need to call and report suspicious or illegal activity. Thanks to a very active and productive citizens effort, Sheriff Elfo and county officials are very aware of our law enforcement needs. If we do not call, they have no way of knowing that the need continues at Birch Bay. Calls are logged and staffing and budget are determined by these calls. When you call 911, simply state "this is not an emergency" and go on to give details when asked. The operator will ask if you want the deputy to contact you. This sometimes means waiting for him/her to arrive, but it also almost always guarantees a response. |

Know your neighbors and their family vehicles. If you see someone who doesn't belong, politely inquire about their unit number. If you are not comfortable asking, contact a board member. |
